Bhima Koregaon Violence: Protests Spread Across Mumbai, Buses Vandalised, Internet Blocked, Rail Traffic Affected

PUNE, INDIA - JANUARY 2: People from various parties organised a meeting on the backdrop of Koregaon violence at Ambedkar Statue near Pune Station, after the clashes between Dalit groups and supporters of right-wing Hindutva organisations broke out during the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Bhima-Koregaon battle in Pune district, on January 2, 2018 in Pune, India. Violent protests erupted in several parts of Mumbai and Thane, with protesters damaging buses, blocking roads, staging rail rokos and forcing shops to shut down on Tuesday, a day after a 28-year-old Dalit died in Pune district following an altercation between two groups during celebrations to mark the bicentenary of a British-Peshwa war. In the Thane region of Maharashtra near Mumbai, section 144 has been imposed till January 4. (Photo by Sanket Wankhade/Hindustan Times )
