Kopou Phool, the state flower of Assam

The Kopou Phool (or the Foxtail Orchid) is an essential part of Assamese culture, and is considered to be a symbol of love, fertility and merriment. It is worn as a hair ornament by the female Bihu dancers, during the festival of Bihu, that is celebrated on the onset of spring.
